Nonlocal transmission problems with fractional diffusion and boundary conditions on non-smooth interfaces

We consider a transmission problem consisting of two semilinear parabolic equations involving fractional diffusion operators of different orders in a general non-smooth setting with emphasis on Lipschitz interfaces and transmission conditions along the interface. We give a unified framework for the existence and uniqueness of strong and mild solutions, and their global regularity properties.     

Rethinking pedagogy for second-order differential equations: a simplified approach to understanding well-posed problems

Knowing an equation has a unique solution is important from both a modelling and theoretical point of view. For over 70 years, the approach to learning and teaching ‘well posedness’ of initial value problems (IVPs) for second- and higher-order ordinary differential equations has involved transforming the problem and its analysis to a first-order system of equations. We show that this excursion is unnecessary and present a direct approach regarding second- and higher-order problems that does not require an understanding of systems.     

Subgroups of totally imprimitive permutation groups

In this work the study of subgroups of totally imprimitive permutation groups is continued. Some sufficient conditions for the existence of minimal non-FC-subgroups are given. These results depend mainly on the properties of self-normalizing subgroups, which are closed in the topology of point-wise convergence. Finally, new properties of a totally imprimitive permutation p-group satisfying the cyclic-block property are given which might be a suitable example to look for minimal non-FC-subgroups.     

Applications of ‐invariant distributions

In this sequel to the article 17 , a criterion for the regularity of fundamental solutions of differential operators with positive symbol is proved in analogy to Hörmander's criteria, see 9 , 12 . It implies that the temperate fundamental solution of the operator is not regular. Furthermore, a formula for the convolution of two ‐invariant distributions is presented, and, finally, L. Schwartz' question on the surjectivity of linear partial differential operators with constant coefficients on the space is completely answered in the case of ‐invariant differential operators.     

Minimal Projections onto Subspaces with Codimension 2

In this article, the relationship between absolute projection constants with dimension n and with codimension n is given. In particular, bounds from below are found for absolute projection constants with codimension 2. Also, exact formulas for minimal projections in this case are given. It is shown that these minimal projections are not unique.     

On the existence of positive least energy solutions for a coupled Schrödinger system with critical exponent

In this paper, we consider the following coupled Schrödinger system with critical exponent: where is a smooth bounded domain, λ > 0,μ≥0, and . Ground state solutions and geometrically distinct solutions for generalized quasilinear Schrödinger equation

In this paper, we study the following generalized quasilinear Schrödinger equation where N≥3, is a C¹ even function, g(0) = 1 and g^′(s) > 0 for all s > 0. Under some suitable conditions, we prove that the equation has a ground state solution and infinitely many pairs ±u of geometrically distinct solutions. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Existence and multiplicity of systems of Kirchhoff‐type equations with general potentials

This paper is concerned with the following systems of Kirchhoff‐type equations: Under more relaxed assumptions on V(x) and F(x,u,v), we first prove the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions for the aforementioned system by using Morse theory in combination with local linking arguments. Then by using the Clark theorem, the existence results of at least 2k distinct pairs of solutions are obtained. Some recent results from the literature are extended. 利用Banach空间中的锥理论和不动点定理讨论了非线性算子方程变号解的存在性,给出了E_u_0空间下非线性算子方程变号解至少有一个变号解、一个正解和一个负解的条件,并讨论了仅通过一个上解条件得出非线性算子方程变号解的存在性定理.
